Rowdy

I had a Rowdy when I was a kid. Her name was Hayley. I was picked on a lot in Elementary and Jr. High School but in Elementary school a girl named Hayley came into my life and threw everything that was done to me back at them. Except for when they beat me up then she pushed them away. The sad part was I was taller then the boys that picked on me and in all realities I could have beat them up if I had the nerve to. I am a bit of an amazon not as much am I used to but I have a lot of hidden strength. Anyways I was wondering if anyone else had a Rowdy?

  1. The thing I like about Sherman Alexie's book is that almost anyone can find something they relate to in his book. Whether you are the brainiac-geek, or the kid who gets beat up every other day on the playground. He also puts humor (though sometimes sad) into all the situations which I think helps people identify more with different characters.

  2. That is a very good point. I would also like to point out that even if you find no one that you relate with you can always take bits and pieces of each character to create a character that you really relate to. I.E. You can just about relate to everyone like for me I can relate to: Junior because I was picked on, Rowdy because I can stick up for others even if I can't stick up for myself, Eugen because I used to ride a Harley, Mr. Spirit because I used to play the Sax, Penelope because I had an eating disorder. I bet if I really wanted to I could continue.
