Before you say oh snap I am a half breed. I am Mexican and White. In other words a half breed. I give my thoughts as both. Or one or the other. Have any questions? Send me a message.

Cinco De Mayo
So at about Midnight on May 5th I was out walking. I know a young teenage girl should not be out walking at night alone but it is the only time that I am ever able to think and I needed to take care of something. I will say that I normally don't walk on the main roads that I was walking this time. Anyways when I am walking day or night I often get offered rides. Especially when my hair is down or I am wearing a skirt. I am only offered rides by older men mainly white however, on this cool evening a Mexican with a Spanish accent, and a car that "Mexicans" drive without the paint job ask me if I needed a lift. I of course declined however, I was terrified. I am half Mexican and half white and I was scared of my own kind offering me a ride. When white guys offer me rides I am just creeped out but a Mexican, I was scared. I find that horrendous. I have become so accustom to the stereo types that society have placed on me that I am nervous of my own kind. I don't know about you but thats just wrong. Then when I tried to explain it to my mom she didn't get it because she is completely white. I tried to explain it as though she was walking and she was offered a ride by an older black man and then she reminded me that she wasn't black. I explained it to my other friend who were white but they didn't get it but then I explained it to one of my Mexican friends and they were the one who explained it was because of stereo types forced upon us.

My Life With Two Wheels
I think that I would like to share a quote with you. It is not exact but it's close enough.
Without education you can only see the world though one eye.
What are your thoughts on this? What does this cause you to think about.

Kids Say The Strangest Things
I was thinking on Thursday that kids say the darnedest things. You see I was reminiscing about my childhood when my dad owned a bright red 2001 Ford Super Duty. I loved that truck. I grew up in that truck. I traveled many places in that truck. I drove to Texas in the third grade in that truck. My dad drove I rode shot gun. Anyways I was thinking about the story my dad tells everyone about when I basically told my dad to die. I basically said; "Papa when you die I want your truck". Now days I can't believe I would ever say that to him. Like I said kids say the strangest thing.

What I Noticed While Writing My Essay
Pilgrim. Do you see it? PilGrim. See it now? PilGRIM. If you don't see it now you are blind. I am pointing out that the name led to a grim future for the Native Americans. Well not the name itself but the people who had the name.
The Tears of My Ancestors
This was the poem I read at Open Mic:
The Tears of My Ancestors
Laughter is in the air but it will soon fade,
It drifts threw the sky just out of reach,
It appears to me just like fleeting hope,
I have seen this before in the eyes of those that I love,
Their eyes show their dreams that have been turned into ash,
The ash is like nutrients to the soil which I use to mature,
My hopes are the seeds yearning to grow,
The tears are of my ancestors,
Whom water me with their sorrows,
It forces me to grow,
They push me forward,
Even when I want to go backwards,
I take the lost dreams of my ancestors upon my back,
I carry them with me,
I will fight to fulfill what has been lost,
What has been taken...

Open Mic
Was it just me or was there only a handful of people at open mic? That was a bummer but either way if you weren't there you missed out big time. It was really fun with your great poetry, Kohl shared some of his lovely work, Fry bread Mary shared of basket weaving, Grandma's for ganja talked about well ganja, Paco talk a funny personal story, and there was so many other good performances. One of the older gentlemen their shared of poetry written in their native tongue. It was absolutely lovely. I am so looking forward to helping plan another open mic because they are so very powerful. Thank you.

What I learned from a peer review: White VS Mexican
So if you didn't know I am 1/2 Mexican and 1/2 White. There is most defiantly a battle between the two. During the peer-review I started to see the anger that my Mexican half has towards my white half. My father has anger towards white people along with the rest of that half of my family. My father tells the story of when my great grandmother was a little girl and the white man came and said if her family didn't move away then they were going to kill them all. My dad and his siblings would look at her and asked what her family did and my great grandmother would that she was here wasn't she. That they had moved. My dad is always talking like my white half looks down on me because I am a mix. I think that they are neutral but my I was taught anger so I react with anger. I have anger towards the Mexican half for the stereotype of being hard laborers. What is a girl to do?

Smoke Signals
I liked the movie a lot, it is amazing how different it was with out stopping to go to my other classes. The movie came off stronger then when I was in high school, I know I am still in high school but it's different when you are with a more mature audience. It's kind of funny though that I have seen the movie for the past three years. Every year in high school I have seen it. I plan to see it again my senior year. Then I will have seen it every year in high school.

For Pedestrians
I am a pedestrian and we all have been at one time or another. I have one huge pet peeve and that is people texting ILLEGALLY might I add while driving. I have had many close calls with drivers who are texting. I can name ten times when I was walking and almost got hit by a car. The only reason I think that it's worthy of blogging about is because the snow seemed to make it worse. I was walking looking both ways and I started walking across the street and this car speeding/sliding while looking down at there phone texting.
Bottom line PLEASE don't text and drive. I have to walk part ways to and from school and it can be scary.

John T. William's
I just watched the dash camera video of John T. William's shotting. All I can say is WTF (where the fire which may not make since but I do not like to swear). I was originally going to blog about the excessive force the police used against protesters and then I saw to video. Oh my goodness. I do believe that there was so much excessiveness that I cannot even describe it. I remember going every week to Pike Place and seeing John carve. My mom who works for Seattle Parks and Recreation remembers having to clean up the shavings from his wood carving. Another part of my knowing or John is that my mom's ex-boyfriend is from the same tribe as him. I remember as a child going to the reservation up in Canada and eating his mom's homemade blackberry pie and freshly BBQ'd seal meat. That was the good times. I also remember fishing up there and eating it fresh. I am so astonished at how brutal our police has become. Please tell me how you all feel about this.

Grandmother Spirit and Eugen
It did really hit me the way both Grandmother Spirit and Eugen died because it had to do with drinking. My family has been messed up by a mix of alcohol and drugs. It has ruined relationships and torn a part friendships. I most definitely have a thing against the two. I understand and believe that to a degree marijuana, opium, coca (cocaine), and anything else derived from plants. I think that if you can lead a normal life with out having to smoke two joints before you leave the house and then have to take it with you just in case you can't come home early enough, or you cannot function without it that concerns me and that's over doing it. Then opium in it's true form and not over done your good. I don't know as much about opium as I do about Coca. My thought is if you chew the leaf like it was interned it would be fine. I definitely believe in herbology but if it is used the right way and not over used. Then as for drinking it 43% of people know someone who are alcoholics. That is royally screwed up. All the negatively that might be in those home's it's quite heart breaking.

Rowdy
I had a Rowdy when I was a kid. Her name was Hayley. I was picked on a lot in Elementary and Jr. High School but in Elementary school a girl named Hayley came into my life and threw everything that was done to me back at them. Except for when they beat me up then she pushed them away. The sad part was I was taller then the boys that picked on me and in all realities I could have beat them up if I had the nerve to. I am a bit of an amazon not as much am I used to but I have a lot of hidden strength. Anyways I was wondering if anyone else had a Rowdy?
Egypt
I am so exited for those who live in Egypt and are now free. The battle seemed long and hard on our end. The strength and the togetherness that it took. I am amazed at your countries strength to keep protesting even though people we being jailed, beaten, even killed. I am so happy for you and that you get to hopefully move into a democracy.

Colbert VS Alexie 2008 Pt. 1
Colbert VS Alexie <- Video link.
Video Portion: 0:00-2:40
Alright you know you have an excellent speaker when you can stump Steven Colbert. I like Colbert to a degree but I don't care for how rude he is. My mom made the point that he is rude to everyone. Anyways I got a kick at how no matter what Colbert said Alexie had a come back.
I thought it was entertaining that Alexie was able to get Colbert with the fact that Columbus was in front of his hotel room. With Colbert there seems to be a need to have psychological warfare to even have a chance on his show. Honestly I think Colbert had his butt handed to him. He finally concedes and says that Alexie and himself shouldn't be fighting but in reality I think he doesn't have any come backs.
Now the Anglo's forgiving the Native Americans was a little wack but funny because then there was a come back. I like I said think Colbert got his butt handed to him. Alexie hit Colbert with a left hook saying that they forgave Anglo's for small pox. Then Colbert tried to slap Alexie with asking for the blakcets to be returned but dry cleaned.
I thought it was interesting when Colbert brought up spirit voices. I believe that we all have them in our own way but a wolf like Colbert assumes. I think not. Then again Alexie feels the need to correct Colbert's assumption of everyone having a wolf spirit voice by saying he has an the spirit voice of a squirrel. We all have a voice of our own and it shows it's self in different ways you just need to listen to it.
Another thing that stuck out to me the assumption that all Native American's can talk to animals. That got to because we all make assumptions about different races. We assume that anyone of hespanic race is a hard labor worker or a maid. We assume that all Asian's are smart and tech oriented. We assume that whites are rich. We assume African-American's deal drugs. We assume Muslims are terrorists and opressive towrds women. The list goes on. You may not agree with these view but it happends everywhere. WE ALL MAKE SOME SORT OF ASSUMPTION ABOUT PEOPLE.

Good ol Ted
I like how Sherman Alexie portrayed Ted. I say this because people like Ted actually exist. I know some of them. They are very odd. They are as wide eyed as Ted where they want to be Native American. They crave it. I think if there was a shroom that could make them go though the process of be coming an Indian. I know that being a mix of Mexican and white I see people who think they were mex in a past life and it matters now.

Absolutely True Diary of a Sexy Indian
The reason I used that as my title was because when ever I try to say the title of the book to quickly that's what end's up coming out of my mouth. Is it because when I think of the word Indian I think of CSI...Cool Sexy Indian or Crazy Sexy Indian. That is my most predominant memory of a Pow wow. Kinda sad huh? Over all I thought the book was okay. I mean I did like it but it wasn't something I would normally read. I tried to read it in Jr. High school but I ended up not liking it after a chapter or two. I was also kinda turned off when all anyone could talk about the book was the fact that he talked about masturbation. I quick page or so on it and that is all I heard about from family and friends. I found that most annoying. Live and learn? Sigh. Why do we seem to obsess about sex so much?
